TFE – New Management Structure

We are delighted to announce the appointment of a new management team within the TFE programme. As we await the imminent return of Dr. Gearoid O’Conchubhair, the Principal Investigator to the programme, NCAD have reacted by installing a very competent project coordination team in place, which will work with the partners and researchers to ensure a successful and effective set of final deliverables. This team will remain in place until the end of the project and take over the responsibility of reporting to Brussels and directing the project.

The team is being assembled at the moment and we hope to have a unified solution by the end of the month, which will fulfil the following roles:

Principal investigator: In the absence of Gearoid, NCAD have selected the new Head of Design Faculty, Professor Alex Milton. Alex has managed several international and European researcher projects and brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the team. Alex, as Principal Investigator, will be responsible for project overview and academic supervision.

Design Director: This is a new role within TFE and Simon Dennehy has been selected as a suitable candidate. Simon’s existing line of research as a PhD candidate, his previous roles within NCAD both as a visiting lecturer and researcher and his company Perch are very much intertwined with the initiation and running of TFE. As Design Director, Simon will be responsible for design brief, outputs and publications from the research teams.

Finance Officer: This new role has been allocated to Aidan McElwaine, who has vast experience dealing with European research projects. He will be responsible for EU reporting and liaison, auditing and finance for the project. Aidan’s work as the main Administrator within GradCAM and his role as Senior Internal Auditor in DIT make him a most qualified candidate to part manage the TFE project.

Project Manager: The project manager for TFE is seen as a vital role in communicating with all of the partners and researchers, around Europe and the USA. From month 18 onward, there will be a new German hub, where activity will be happening. The project manager will work closely with the aforementioned team to ensure deadlines, timetabling and monitoring of work happen efficiently and effectively. This person is yet to be announced, however NCAD are currently in discussion with several candidates, with previous FP7 experience.
